When you are alone traveling below the speed of sound, you are fixed in space and stationary. The distance you appear to travel is just the distance traveling under your feet. All the water that you drink is brought to you by the earth rotating toward the well. The earth that brings rain turns you to shelter, rotating fast and then stopping when your feet hurt. You see another traveler and become untethered. The earth yields to the two conflicting rotations and stops. You now have to get your own water, you cry in the rain. ____________________________
